“We must focus on scientific and technical education to earn dignified stature in the comity of nations”, said Prof Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform while addressing as a Chief Guest at handing over ceremony of non-project grant of industrial equipment worth Rs. 176 Millions from the people of Japan at Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI).

The Federal Minister highlighted, “We must educate our students in such disciplines that could increase their employability in the workforce market.  It is on Government’s agenda for the 11th Five-Year Plan (2013-18) and Vision 2025 to impart technical education to the youth for business or employability.  It is sad that hundreds and thousands of graduates in the country are unemployed because their degrees are not relevant to the market demands”.  He added, “Government is planning to establish ‘Skill University’ next year in order to provide umbrella for all the institutions imparting technical education in the country.  This university would issue international level accreditation to all the institutions providing quality technical education”.

Prof. Ahsan Iqbal said, “Technology is redefining every aspect of human history.  It is the outcome of human genius which has provided mankind with the solution to every challenge”.  He commended the role of CTTI in providing quality education in technical fields, and stresses upon the need to replicate such models all over the country”.  On this occasion, the Federal Minister asked the CTTI administration to launch research into effective construction methods, and cheaper construction material, because we need to lower the construction cost to bring it within the reach of common people.  The world has shifted from wet construction model to dry one.  We should also explore possibilities in this regard to make the construction process time-saving and cheaper”.   The Federal Minister thanked the Japanese ambassador on extending great support to Pakistan in the shape of handing over of non-project grant of industrial equipment.
